New Sonoma Music festival? Maybe with your help.. read on....

Sonoma Green Music Festival....its really up to you. Planned for August 9, 2008. Our goal is to have a small reggae festival on our home turf.
Please mark your calendars in your busy summers for the commission hearing at City Hall Wed night. This meeting /hearing will determine if the city will accept our permit for Plaza use. They want us to use depot park instead, but that is really not the best scenario.
Please show up and voice your opinions. At 7pm the general public has a chance to stand up and speak to the commission regarding the city's agenda. If you come and bring one friend with you, the city will have to listen to your request.
This is the only way we will be allowed to throw this party.
Points to bring up.
1. ONE day for Sonoma Youth. There are many things going on in the plaza all year long catering to the wine industry, old folks and families. Please give us ONE day this year to plan something in particular for young people who live here.
2. LIVE MUSIC. The Plaza is KEY for Live music being able to happen without anybodies complaints. We do not want the community to be put-out by our fun and we would like the event to last into the evening.
3. ECO FRIENDLY!!! this is the first event in Sonoma where we will have strict guidelines as far as sustainability, environment enriching practices and enforcement of recycling and other eco products.
We hope to have all other current and existing plaza and park use follow our lead in this dept.
4. HEALTH: There will be no junk at this festival. All natural non-alcoholic beverages and re-usable containers for purchase. No plastic. No Smoking.
4. Please do not mention Reggae.!!!! We are calling this SONOMA GREEN MUSIC FESTIVAL. If they ask me what kind of music we will be providing, the term I will use is "WORLD MUSIC". If we say reggae they will assume the worst. (SEE pashon on my top friends list..she is our hopeful headliner)
5. RESPECT!!! we want all the kids, all the teens, all the races, everybody just having fun and enjoying summer in sonoma. We need representation on all levels at this meeting. If you know anybody in any type of mis-represented group or whatever, please let them know we need volunteers and we want everybody included. This is a community action event.
So please try to make it just for one hour out of your beautiful summer!!!!!!
