and I somehow thought, after moving to what ( I eventually learned) young people wisely called, 'Slownoma" after living in Santa Cruz for 35 years (1971 to 2005) that I would find this new home town versus the one I had left after those 35 tyears earlier was NOT in any way the one I'd left before, no matter how many years had passed: NO, NO, NO:
While it WAS in some suoerficicial way (small population size, hip older community, cool places to dine and drink) like my Santa Cruz of 1971, and the people who largely inhabited it were the same folks that had livid in that other town I hazily remembered 35 years earlier. I but I found that, in fact, many of the UC Santa Cruz students I had known 35 years earlier had migrated to my little town of the future, Sonoma many years before I did. They had settled into what had developed into a non-psychedelic, non-dance cullture, and non-contemporary cultural life style that I personally found--in my late migration to this place--presently dead-end and personally disgusting!
For me, it has been only because some of the members of my family who have kept the cultrural cross burning--like my nephew James (JM Berry) who hosts the weekly Sonoma Valley Music Scene show on KSVY and my niece Mary and her boyfriend Lane who started their Black Point Music Scene and Wildflower Weed groups, that I've been able to get into my 70th year with great alacrity!
